Unfortunately often a security business or any company will employ staff, and rely on them having the correct training to gain entry into the industry, and they forget to plan and budget for professional development/ training of the staff to help improve the staff member.
Training should be seen as an investment into your business and not just a expense. If you improve your staff, they become an asset to the company. This can be the difference between your company and other companies. whilst training cost, think about what is the cost to your business if you dont offer training.
Staff who will appreciate and receiving training can be more productive to your business and feel more appreciated within your workplace and are more likely to go that extra mile when you need someone to.
Can the business perform the TNA.
Whilst you can employ a contractor to come in and perform a training needs analyses or a gap analyses to see where your staff are lacking skills. You can do it yourself, during discussions with your staff and comparing it to the job specifications or their daily task requirements. After this you can work out what training needs to occur.
Who should do the training for you.
There is nothing wrong with the company providing internal training as long as it meets the requirements to improve the gaps within the staff knowledge or skill set. If there is no one to perform the training to a higher level it might be worth engaging in a outside company to come in and provide the extra training required. Remember often staff will not improve if they are not given extra skills or training whilst they are with your company.
Is this applicable for any industry.
Training applies to any industry, if you dont train staff they wont improve, your company wont improve, and productivity may suffer. You could lose good staff to your competitors or other industries due to this, or the lacking of training.
If you wish to talk to someone about training your staff please get in contact with SGH Security Services and we will discuss your requirements.
